Double Stackers over Donner Pass [DP TS12]

This session reproduces a historic occasion in modern US train history: the first commercial double stack trip over Donner Pass on the 19 November 2009 after the track and tunnel upgrades completed by UPRR. Now tunnels after Colfax have been enlarged and reworked to accommodate the 22ft high double stacks and 20.2ft Autoracks. Ground Crew are positioned at the entrance to each tunnel to ensure all goes well.

 

You take over IOAOG-19 for the leg from Roseville to Sparks where you hand off to a new crew for the onward journey. Before departure the leading three locomotives must be refuelled so that is you first job of the day. The rear end DPU has been refuelled ready for the trip by the Yard Crew.

La sessione riproduce un importante evento nella storia ferroviaria moderna degli USA: il primo viaggio commerciale di un treno di carri portacontainer a due livelli sulla Donner Pass, avvenuto il 19 novembre 2009 al termine dei lavori di adeguamento dell'armamento e delle gallerie eseguiti dalla Union Pacific. Le gallerie dopo Colfax sono state ampliate per consentire il passaggio dei carri portacontainer a due livelli (altezza 22 piedi, 6,70 metri) e dei carri per trasporto automobili (altezza 20,2 piedi, 6,16 metri). Apposite squadre di personale di terra sono dislocate all'imbocco di ogni galleria per verificare che tutto si svolga senza inconvenienti.

 

Siete alla guida del treno IOAOG-19 per il tratto tra Roseville e Sparks, dove un nuovo equipaggio vi darà il cambio e proseguirà il viaggio. Le tre locomotive di testa devono essere rifornite prima della partenza, e questo sarà il vostro primo compito. Le locomotive telecomandate in spinta sono già state rifornite dal personale del deposito.
